For many of us, the thought of learning a language can be quite daunting….especially when learning online via zoom calls. However, the truth of it is, it’s beneficial in so many ways and is so easy to access. Back in March when the UK went into lockdown, many people were at a loss of things to do to pass the time and the desire to learn a language via online learning shot up massively…pretty insane right?
Why do people want to learn languages online?
Language learning is more accessible than ever and with your own personal tutor, chatting through video calls on zoom, skype & facetime make your learning so much easier. So why do people want to learn online?
- More affordable
- No need to travel/leave your home
- You have the power to learn as much/little as you want
- Learn in an environment that suits you
Learning Spanish online
You may or may not know that in lockdown I decided to learn Spanish via online learning and it was great. I did it with my partner and we had a course of 12 lessons over 6 weeks. We’re still not ‘fluent’ in Spanish, but we did learn a hell of a lot so that when we travel to Spain, we can speak a little of the lingo. Our tutor was a lovely girl called Nadia and we had 1-hour sessions over zoom twice a week. We also had a lot of resources sent over from Nadia so we could also learn in our own time which was a great added bonus.
Is learning online worth it?
If you put the time and effort into the learning and it’s something you want to do then YES! I was unsure about online learning at first, but honestly, it was so worth it. You do have to put the effort in and motivate yourself which can be a struggle some days but once you’ve got yourself motivated, you’re halfway there!
I definitely recommend online learning if you’re thinking of learning a new language. You can learn so much online these days. Take advantage of what you can!
